Taco Bell and Salt & Straw Bring Back Choco Taco

Taco Bell is making a bold move by bringing back a beloved ice cream treat that was discontinued 18 months ago. The fast-food chain is teaming up with Portland’s Salt & Straw ice cream company to offer a new and improved version of the dearly departed Choco Taco.

The new creation, officially named the ‘Taco Bell x Salt & Straw Ice Cream Chocolate Taco,’ features taco-shaped waffle cones filled with cinnamon ancho ice cream dipped in chocolate and topped with toasted brown rice. This gourmet take on the classic treat is set to hit stores sometime this summer as part of Taco Bell’s menu refresh plans.

This collaboration marks the first time Salt & Straw’s version of the Choco Taco will be available nationwide, making it an eagerly anticipated comeback for fans of the original treat. The discontinuation of the Choco Taco sparked a strong public backlash, with even U.S. Senator Chris Murphy and Reddit cofounder Alexis Ohanian weighing in on the matter.

The Choco Taco, initially created by Alan Drazen 40 years ago, became a staple on ice cream trucks and later secured a distribution deal with Taco Bell. Despite its brief hiatus, the Choco Taco’s return is generating significant excitement among consumers and is poised to make a big splash in the ice cream market once again.

Stay tuned for more updates on the official release date of the ‘Taco Bell x Salt & Straw Ice Cream Chocolate Taco’ and be ready to indulge in this nostalgic treat all over again.
