Splash ‘n Dash Egg Hunt and Healthy Easter Treats

Are you looking for a unique Easter activity for your children? The City of Santa Clarita Government, in collaboration with Kaiser Permanente, is presenting the Splash ‘n Dash Egg Hunt, a one-of-a-kind twist on the traditional egg hunt. This event, designed for children aged 10 and under, will feature eggs with hidden treats inside, released into the Aquatic Center’s Waterslide Pool. The event promises a fun and exciting experience for the young participants.

As Easter approaches, parents and caregivers often prepare Easter baskets filled with sweet treats. However, Kaiser Permanente’s Health Educator and Nutritionist, Anna Leszcynsk, offers some innovative ideas to make these baskets a bit healthier while retaining the traditional Easter fun. One of her delightful suggestions is the Almond Delight, a homemade energy ball recipe that is not only tasty but also packed with essential nutrients such as protein, healthy fats, magnesium, and fiber.

Almond Delight Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup crunchy almond butter
  • 2 tsp almond extract (alcohol-free)
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (72% cacao)
  • 1/2 cup shredded coconut (no sugar added)
  • 2 tbsp chia seeds
  • Pinch of cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt

Directions:

  1. Combine almond butter, almond extract, and honey in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Mix oats, chocolate chips, coconut shreds, chia seeds, cinnamon, and salt in a separate bowl.
  3. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and stir until well combined.
  4. Shape the mixture into 12 balls and refrigerate for a few hours to harden. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
