PulsePoint App Revolutionizes Emergency Response in Hamilton County

Hamilton County, Tennessee – In times of a medical emergency, every second is crucial. Hamilton County 911 has implemented a lifesaving app called PulsePoint to aid during sudden cardiac events. This innovative app allows CPR-certified individuals to utilize their skills effectively in emergency situations.

Since 2018, Hamilton County has been utilizing PulsePoint Respond to notify users when a cardiac arrest occurs at a nearby commercial location. This timely alert system enables trained individuals to respond promptly and provide vital assistance.

For those who are not CPR certified, there is still a way to contribute to saving lives. PulsePoint AED, a companion app, helps identify automated external defibrillators (AEDs) in the vicinity. These devices play a crucial role in resuscitating individuals experiencing cardiac emergencies.

Jeff Carney, the executive director of Hamilton County 911, revealed that approximately 800 AEDs have been identified and marked within the county. Registered AEDs are easily accessible to emergency responders and are highlighted to nearby individuals during cardiac arrest incidents.

Carney emphasized the importance of having individuals trained in CPR readily available during emergencies, stating, “To be able to deliver effective CPR is much better than trying to talk somebody through CPR who’s never done it before. So the more people can get signed up and are willing to participate in this, the better for everybody.”
