New ‘300’ TV Series in Early Development at Warner Bros. Television

A new TV series adaptation of the iconic film ‘300’ is currently in early development at Warner Bros. Television, as revealed by sources. While specific plot details are still being ironed out, the series is expected to serve as a prequel to the original 2006 movie. At present, no writer or platform has been officially linked to the project.

Notably, Zack Snyder, who directed and co-wrote the original ‘300’ film, is reportedly in discussions to direct and executive produce the upcoming series. Deborah Snyder, the executive producer of the film, is also set to return as an executive producer alongside Zack under their production company, Stone Quarry. Additionally, key producers from the movie, including Gianni Nunnari, Mark Canton, and Bernie Goldmann, are in talks to reprise their roles.

‘300’ was initially based on the graphic novel of the same name by Frank Miller and Lynn Varley, drawing inspiration from historical events and the 1962 movie ‘The 300 Spartans.’ The film follows the story of King Leonidas of Sparta leading a small group of soldiers against the vast army of Xerxes I of Persia. Starring Gerard Butler as Leonidas and Rodrigo Santoro as Xerxes, the movie was a commercial success, grossing over $450 million globally.

A sequel titled ‘300: Rise of an Empire’ was released in 2014, based on Miller’s graphic novel ‘Xerxes.’ Although Snyder did not direct the sequel, it featured returning cast members like Lena Headey and Rodrigo Santoro, and achieved a worldwide box office gross of $337 million.

If the ‘300’ series comes to fruition, it will join the trend of films being adapted for television, offering fans a new perspective on the beloved story. Stay tuned for further updates on this exciting project!
