Health Canada Issues Recalls for Window Blinds, Unauthorized Health Products, and Wall Chargers
Health Canada has issued recalls for several items this week, including Insignia air fryers, wall chargers, and window blinds. Canadians are urged to be cautious and check if they have any of these products in their homes.
Window Blinds
One of the recalls is for over 85,000 window blinds sold in Canada, which have been found to pose a strangulation hazard for children. The shades by Elite Window Fashions, including All Roller, High-Lite, Sheer Horizontal, and Roman blinds sold with ChainGuards and P-Clips, do not meet Canada’s Corded Window Coverings regulations. Health Canada warns that young children may be at risk of strangulation or choking due to looped cords and small parts of the blinds. The company sold the blinds from July 2022 to March 2024, and customers are advised to stop using them and contact the company for replacement parts.
Unauthorized Health Products
Another alert was issued after Health Canada seized unauthorized health products from an online retailer, ‘UU Zone,’ based in Markham, Ont. The products, including eye drops and cold medication, were found to contain prescribed, controlled, or over-the-counter drugs. Health Canada emphasized that selling unauthorized health products in Canada is illegal and warned consumers not to use these products due to potential high-risk ingredients.
Wall Chargers
Additionally, a recall was issued for Starmaker USB wall chargers due to electric shock and fire hazards. The home charger USB-A and USB-C were found to pose risks, and consumers are advised to stop using them immediately.
It’s crucial for Canadians to stay informed about these recalls and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety and the safety of their families.
