Exciting Easter Weekend Events in Edmonton

Spring has arrived, and the City of Edmonton is embracing the season with a lineup of exciting events and activities for the upcoming Easter weekend. Several city-owned attractions and facilities are set to host a variety of celebrations, offering something for everyone to enjoy.

One of the highlights of the weekend is the Birds in Bloom event at the Muttart Conservatory on Saturday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. The event promises a range of entertainment, including Hula Hoop Circus performances, airbrush tattoos, an Easter-themed scavenger hunt, and crafts and sensory play. Additionally, visitors can explore the Northern Alberta Wood Carvers among the tulips in the feature pyramid.

For those looking for Easter egg hunts, the John Walter Museum will be hosting a free egg hunt on Monday, accompanied by free tours, live music by local musician Gareth Gilliland, and members of the Edmonton Weavers Guild. The event will run from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., offering a fun-filled day for families and individuals alike.

Meanwhile, the Edmonton Valley Zoo will be providing special enrichments for the animals throughout the long weekend, with visitors invited to participate in scavenger hunts, games, planting activities, and learn about Earth Day. It’s a great opportunity to engage with nature and learn about wildlife conservation.

Despite recent snowfall, the Victoria Driving Range opened as scheduled on Thursday and will operate daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Additionally, city-owned golf courses are expected to open in the coming weeks, offering golf enthusiasts the chance to enjoy the spring weather on the greens.

Recreation Centres will also be open over the long weekend, with statutory holiday hours in effect on Friday, Sunday, and Monday. However, it’s important to note that Jasper Place and Hardisty Leisure Centres, as well as the ACT Leisure Centre tot pool, will remain closed for rehabilitation work.

As an added incentive, this weekend marks the conclusion of the Alberta resident two-for-one promotion at the Edmonton Valley Zoo and Muttart Conservatory. Visitors who pay for admission at one facility can present their receipt and valid Alberta ID to gain free entry to the other, offering a fantastic opportunity to explore both attractions at a discounted rate.

With an array of events and activities planned, Edmonton residents and visitors have plenty of options for enjoying the Easter weekend and embracing the arrival of spring. Whether it’s engaging with nature at the zoo, exploring cultural attractions, or enjoying recreational facilities, there’s something for everyone to make the most of the holiday weekend in Edmonton.
