Target Lady is back and ready to rock as she celebrates Target Circle Week! Actress Kristen Wiig is reprising her beloved Saturday Night Live (SNL) role as the Target Lady in a series of 12 ad spots for Target’s guest-favorite event starting April 7.
Target’s executive vice president and chief marketing officer, Lisa Roath, expressed the company’s excitement about the campaign, stating, “Like so many, we’re big fans of Kristen Wiig and her iconic Target Lady character from Saturday Night Live. So as we prepare to introduce the new Target Circle and thousands of new deals during Target Circle Week, it’s only fitting that we partnered with Kristen to create some memorable new laughs courtesy of the one and only Target Lady.”
The ad spots feature Wiig as Target Lady, showcasing her infectious enthusiasm and over-the-top excitement for the new Target Circle and the exclusive deals offered during Target Circle Week. From her closet full of red Target vests to her Bullseye-themed breakfast, Wiig’s portrayal of Target Lady brings the magic of shopping at Target to life.
Target worked closely with Wiig, former SNL writer James Anderson, and director Tom Kuntz to dream up each scenario, ensuring that the campaign blends the best of Target Lady with the latest and greatest offerings at Target. The ad spots also pay tribute to Target’s roots in Minneapolis with a musical cameo from American musician and hometown icon, Prince and The Revolution, with their hit song, “Baby I’m a Star.”
While the ad spots featuring Target Lady in action are showcased, there are numerous other ways to catch her in her element as she brings her infectious energy to Target’s latest offerings. With the new Target Circle launch and the kick-off to Target Circle Week, Target Lady’s return is sure to bring joy and laughter to guests as they discover the excitement of shopping at Target.
