A Texas woman, Alicia Hallock, recently shared her harrowing experience on social media, which eventually led her to the ICU. Hallock claimed that she nearly died after receiving Botox injections to treat her migraine problem, as reported by People Magazine.
After receiving the shots, Hallock, who is in her mid-30s, became partially paralyzed and suffered from dysphagia, a disorder that makes swallowing difficult and can lead to choking on saliva. She mentioned that the injections left her neck muscles paralyzed, making it impossible for her to lift her head. As a result, she had to rely on a feeding tube for nutrients.
In an Instagram post, Hallock revealed, ‘I ended up having a rare complication. They moved me to ICU to be constantly monitored, and I’ve had 6 tubes shoved down my throat to get up all the mucus that’s stuck in my lungs and throat.’
Dysphagia is a condition characterized by difficulties in swallowing, which can be painful and, in some cases, impossible. It is most common among the elderly and can be caused by various conditions, requiring individualized treatment based on the underlying cause.
Throughout her recovery, Hallock kept her followers updated on her medical status, sharing videos of her struggles and eventually receiving a discharge from the hospital after 18 days of treatment. She is currently recovering at home, expressing that she could have died and emphasizing the severity of her experience.
