Wisconsin women’s basketball suffered a tough 89-50 loss to the Purdue Boilermakers on Saturday night at Mackey Arena in West Lafayette, Ind. The Badgers, now 0-2 in conference play and 7-5 overall, struggled to match Purdue’s performance.
Senior guard Natalie Leuzinger, a Monroe native, emerged as a standout for the Badgers, contributing 15 points off the bench with an impressive 5/6 shooting. However, Wisconsin only managed to shoot 35% from the floor, while Purdue excelled at 52%.
All five Purdue starters finished in double figures, showcasing their team’s balanced performance. Senior forward Caitlyn Harper, hailing from Harland, led the game with 16 points, while senior guard Jeanae Terry secured a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds.
The Boilermakers dominated the boards, out-rebounding the Badgers 44-24, and also won the turnover battle 21-12. Wisconsin will look to regroup as they prepare to host Nebraska on January 4 at 8:00 p.m.
