Winter weather has caused power outages across southern Oregon, leaving approximately 1,300 Pacific Power customers without electricity. Field crews are actively working to restore power in the affected areas as quickly as possible, considering the challenging conditions on the ground.
The utility’s meteorology team has been closely monitoring the storm, with crews on standby in southern Oregon and northern California, as snow is expected to continue throughout the weekend.
Pacific Power is advising customers to be prepared for potential outages and is supporting state and local emergency management organizations. Oregonians are encouraged to have an emergency plan in place to cope with up to 72 hours without essential services.
To stay informed and prepared, customers are urged to update their contact information with Pacific Power, sign up for outage alerts via text, email, or phone, and ensure their outage kits are stocked. Keeping mobile devices charged for emergency use is also recommended. Additionally, Pacific Power offers a free app for tracking outages, updating contact information, and more. Customers can report outages by texting OUT to 722797 or check the status by texting STAT. They can also visit pacificpower.net/outages for restoration estimates.
It is important for individuals to stay away from downed power lines and utility lines, as they could be energized and pose a significant danger. The public is advised to avoid downed trees and powerlines and keep pets away from these areas. If a downed line is spotted, it should be reported to 911 and then to Pacific Power at 1-877-508-5088.
As the winter weather continues to impact the region, Pacific Power is working diligently to restore electricity to affected customers and ensure their safety during this challenging time.
