WhatsApp Introduces New Features for Broadcasting Tool, Channels

WhatsApp is rolling out a range of new features for its broadcasting tool, Channels, including voice notes, multiple admins, sharing to status, and polls.

WhatsApp has introduced a slew of new features for its one-way broadcasting tool – Channels. Mark Zuckerberg announced on Wednesday that the Channels would receive updates including voice notes, multiple admins and sharing to status and polls. These new updates are aimed at offering users more ways to engage with WhatsApp Channels.

WhatsApp is rolling out new features across Android, iOS, and the web, gradually making them available worldwide. The new features include:

  • Voice Updates: One of the most awaited features, Voice Updates lets Channel admins send voice notes to connect more with their followers. WhatsApp says that the platform already exchanges a staggering 7 billion voice notes daily, and this feature will make voice notes a prominent communication format for Channels.
  • Polls: To increase engagement, Channels can now create Polls within themselves. This feature enables Channel admins to directly tap into their audience’s opinions and preferences. Mark Zuckerberg demonstrated this feature in his announcement by creating a poll about the most popular games. With Polls, WhatsApp allows users to craft concise questions and offer multiple answer options, transforming passive viewers into active participants.
  • Share to Status: WhatsApp is also bridging the gap between Channels and personal connections with Share to Status. Users can seamlessly share captivating updates from their favourite Channels to their WhatsApp Status, spreading the word to their own network. This helps users stay informed on topics they care about, and channel creators experience organic growth through word-of-mouth recommendations.
  • Multiple Admins: WhatsApp Channels is elevating group management with the introduction of the Multiple Admins feature. With the capacity to have up to 16 admins, the platform enables users to streamline communication flow within channels. This ensures the efficient
