Warner Bros. Games Appoints Yves Lachance as New Head of Montréal Studio

Warner Bros. Games has announced a significant leadership change within its Montréal studio, appointing Yves Lachance as the new vice president and studio head. This move comes as the company continues to expand its influence in the gaming industry, particularly following the success of titles like Hogwarts Legacy, Suicide Squad, and the acclaimed Batman: Arkham series.

Lachance will oversee all aspects of design, art, engineering, and production for the Québec-based studio. His role is pivotal as he will collaborate closely with the broader publishing organization and various other studios within Warner Bros. Games to enhance the studio’s capabilities and opportunities. He will report directly to Ben Bell, the senior vice president of production and studios at Warner Bros. Games.

The Montréal studio gained recognition for its role in developing Batman: Arkham Origins, a prequel to the highly praised Batman: Arkham City. This project allowed the main development team at Rocksteady Games to focus on wrapping up the franchise with Batman: Arkham Knight. Since then, the studio has released Gotham Knights in 2022, a game that allows players to explore the Bat Family’s adventures following Batman’s demise.

Before joining Warner Bros. Games, Lachance served as the studio director at Bethesda Game Studios in Montréal, where he honed his leadership skills. His experience also includes various leadership roles at Behaviour Interactive. Lachance is an alumnus of McGill University, holding a degree in computer-based information systems.

Ben Bell expressed confidence in Lachance’s ability to lead the Montréal studio, stating, “We feel Yves brings an excellent combination of experience and partnership to lead our Montréal studio into its next phase of growth.” He highlighted Lachance’s familiarity with the unique culture of Montréal and the opportunities it presents for game development.

Lachance himself shared his enthusiasm for the role, stating, “Warner Bros. Games’ major franchises and internal game development expertise provide an exceptional foundation on which to develop the next generation of games.” He emphasized his excitement about collaborating with the established Montréal team to create unforgettable gaming experiences based on some of the most impactful entertainment properties available today.

As the gaming industry continues to evolve, Warner Bros. Games is clearly positioning itself for future success with strategic appointments like Lachance’s, aiming to deliver innovative and engaging content to gamers worldwide.
