Walmart shoppers have limited time to claim up to $500 in class-action lawsuit settlement

Walmart shoppers have a limited time to claim free money from the retail giant, with the deadline fast approaching. Eligible customers could be entitled to up to $500 by participating in a class-action lawsuit against Walmart. The lawsuit alleges that customers were overcharged for ‘weighted goods’ such as bagged citrus fruits, meats, or seafood, between October 19, 2018, and January 19, 2024.

To be eligible for a share of the $45 million settlement, customers must act quickly as the deadline for claims is June 5. Claims can be submitted online through the settlement’s website. Although Walmart denies any wrongdoing, they have agreed to the settlement to resolve the issue.

Shoppers can receive different payout amounts based on whether they have a receipt from the specified period and the number of affected products they purchased. Those with proof of purchase could receive up to 2% of the amount spent on the weighted goods, with a maximum cap of $500. Customers without a receipt may still be eligible for a payout, although the amount would be significantly lower.
