Vornado Recalls Two Million Handheld Garment Steamers Due to Burn Hazard

Attention all consumers! Vornado has issued a recall for two million handheld garment steamers due to a serious burn hazard. The recall affects Steamfast, Vornado, and Sharper Image-branded garment steamers, with approximately 13,000 units sold in Canada.

The hazard stems from the potential for the steamers to expel hot water from the steam nozzle while heating or during use, posing a significant burn risk to consumers. The affected models include Steamfast SF-425, SF-435, SF-440, SF-445, and SF-447; Vornado VS-410; and Sharper Image SI-428, sold in various colors.

Consumers are urged to immediately stop using the recalled garment steamers and contact Vornado for a full refund or a free replacement, depending on the model. Vornado has received 122 reports of hot water spraying or spitting from the steam nozzle, resulting in 23 reports of burn injuries.

The recalled steamers were sold at Walmart, Bed Bath & Beyond, and other stores nationwide, as well as online through various retailers, from July 2009 through January 2024, with prices ranging from $14 to $35. The products were manufactured in China and imported by Vornado Air LLC of Andover, Kansas.

For more information and to initiate the refund or replacement process, consumers can contact Vornado toll-free at 888-240-2768 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or visit their official website for further details.
