Vitamix Blending Container Recall Expanded Due to Laceration Hazard

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced the reannouncement and expansion of the recall of Vitamix Ascent Series and Venturist Series 8-ounce and 20-ounce Blending Containers and Blade Bases due to a laceration hazard. The recall is being expanded to include additional repair kits following reports of injuries.

The recall involves Vitamix Ascent Series and Venturist Series 8-ounce and 20-ounce Blending Containers and Blade Bases where the containers can separate from the blade base exposing the blades, posing a laceration hazard to consumers. This recall affects about 569,000 units, with 105,000 units previously recalled in August 2018. Additionally, around 121,950 units were sold in Canada.

Consumers who own these blending containers and blade bases are advised to stop using them immediately and contact Vitamix for a repair kit. The repair kit includes a protective plastic shroud to attach over the blade base and additional instructional labels to prevent any further injuries.

There have been 27 reports of lacerations, including 11 reports from the prior 2018 recall, when consumers’ hands came in contact with exposed blades. The recalled products were sold at various retailers nationwide and online from April 2017 through May 2024 for prices ranging from $30 to $990 when sold with other products.

Vitamix is urging all consumers, including those who participated in the 2018 recall, to take immediate action to prevent any potential injuries. For more information, consumers can contact Vitamix toll-free at 855-215-5178 or visit their website for further details.
