Virgin Galactic Completes Final Commercial Suborbital Spaceflight with VSS Unity

Virgin Galactic recently completed its final commercial suborbital spaceflight with the VSS Unity spaceplane, carrying a Turkish researcher and three private astronauts. The spaceplane, attached to its VMS Eve mothership aircraft, took off from Spaceport America in New Mexico, reaching an altitude of 87.5 kilometers before landing back at the spaceport. The flight, known as Galactic 07, included experiments conducted by the Turkish researcher, Tuva Atasever, as well as automated payloads from Purdue University and the University of California Berkeley.

Among the private astronauts on board were Andy Sadhwani, a SpaceX propulsion engineer, Irving Pergament, a New York real estate developer, and Giorgio Manenti, an Italian investment manager. The flight was commanded by Nicola Pecile with Jameel Janjua as the pilot. This marked the seventh commercial flight for VSS Unity and the 12th flight overall, as Virgin Galactic transitions its focus.
