A United Airlines flight from London to Newark, New Jersey was diverted to Bangor, Maine after the crew reported disturbance from two passengers, according to the FAA. The incident involved two intoxicated passengers who were deemed a Level 2 threat, resulting in the plane landing safely at Bangor International Airport with 150 passengers and 10 crew members on board.
The Boeing 767, which departed from Heathrow Airport in London, was en route to Newark Liberty International Airport. Following the diversion, the flight re-departed for Newark, and the two unruly passengers will face a ban from future United flights while the airline reviews the matter.
The Bangor police department, along with CBP and the FBI, are currently handling the investigation. The FBI stated that an individual was detained and arrested on scene after consulting with the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the District of Maine. It was emphasized that this incident has no connection to terrorism, and due to the ongoing investigation, further details cannot be provided at this time.
