Tyler Hynes’ Injury Recovery Takes a Romantic Turn at Chiefs Game

In a surprising twist of events, Tyler Hynes, a well-known actor in the Hallmark universe, found himself in a unique situation during his first Kansas City Chiefs game. This experience came shortly after he wrapped up filming for the much-anticipated trilogy, The Groomsmen, overseas. Hynes, 38, shared that he had a memorable encounter with NFL player Mecole Hardman Jr., who played a pivotal role in helping him recover from an injury sustained on set.

During an exclusive interview, Hynes recounted the incident, stating, “I went to my first game and Mecole Hardman Jr. rehabilitated my sprained thumb, which I sprained on The Groomsmen. He cured it, and I looked into his eyes and that’s when I fell in love.” The actor humorously reflected on how a simple encounter at Arrowhead Stadium turned into a light-hearted moment of admiration.

Hynes had initially injured his thumb while filming The Groomsmen earlier in the summer. The situation was exacerbated when he re-sprained his thumb while shooting another Hallmark film titled Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story, which was filmed in Kansas City. It’s fascinating to note that much of the holiday film was shot in the same venue where Hynes met Hardman.

On that memorable day at Arrowhead Stadium, Hynes described how Hardman approached him and took a moment to assess his injury. “He came up to me and I just met him, and he grabbed my thumb and started fixing it, rehabilitating it,” Hynes said, expressing his admiration for the Chiefs wide receiver. The actor jokingly added, “And I was just like, ‘You are a beautiful man, and I love you.’”

The upcoming film, A Chiefs Love Story, is set to premiere on the Hallmark Channel on Saturday, November 30. The plot revolves around a passionate Chiefs super fan who embarks on a journey to win the team’s coveted “Fan of the Year” contest, which Hynes’ character, Derrick, oversees and judges. Fans of the NFL team can look forward to several nods to the Chiefs throughout the film, including a special cameo by Donna Kelce, the mother of tight end Travis Kelce.

As Hynes continues to promote his Hallmark rom-com, his co-star from The Groomsmen, B.J. Britt, also had his share of on-set injuries, which added a layer of camaraderie among the cast. Jonathan Bennett, who plays Danny in the trilogy, revealed that Britt faced a challenging moment while filming, stating, “Oh, B.J. pulled his groin out.” However, Bennett did not disclose which specific film in the trilogy led to Britt’s injury.

Britt, who portrays Pete in the films, recounted a particularly intense scene where he injured himself. He explained, “I was chasing after the taxi during one of the films, and as I was running, all of a sudden it just exploded.” The lighthearted banter among the cast members highlights the fun yet challenging nature of filming for the trilogy.

As fans eagerly await the release of The Groomsmen and A Chiefs Love Story, Hynes’ injury saga and his unexpected encounter with Hardman add an interesting layer to the narrative of these Hallmark films. The blend of sports and romance promises to deliver an engaging viewing experience for audiences this holiday season.
