Tr3n: Production Finally Commences for Long-Awaited Tron Sequel

Tron: Ares, the long-awaited sequel to the Tron franchise, has finally commenced production after being delayed due to the Hollywood strikes. The film, now officially titled Tr3n, is helmed by director Joachim Rønning and features a star-studded cast including Jared Leto, Jodie Turner-Smith, Cameron Monaghan, Evan Peters, and Greta Lee.

Originally slated to begin filming in mid-August 2023, the production was hindered by the industry strikes, resulting in a five-month delay. Director Joachim Rønning expressed frustration over the setback, which led to the indefinite layoff of 150 crew members. However, with the strikes now resolved, the film has finally entered production, marking the start of an exciting new chapter for Tron fans.

Tron: Ares, which has been in development for some time, was initially put on hold after Disney’s acquisition of Marvel and Star Wars. However, the studio’s decision to revive the beloved sci-fi series has generated significant anticipation among audiences.

While specific plot details for the upcoming threequel remain under wraps, it is confirmed that Jared Leto will lead the cast and also serve as a producer. The addition of talented actors such as Jodie Turner-Smith, Cameron Monaghan, Evan Peters, and Greta Lee has further heightened interest in the project. Fans are eager to see how Tron: Ares will continue the narrative from its predecessor, Tron: Legacy, and whether it will feature appearances from the original cast members.

Initially scheduled for a 2025 release, the film’s production delay has raised questions about its eventual premiere date. With the current uncertainty surrounding the timeline, fans are eagerly awaiting further updates on the highly-anticipated Tron: Ares.
