Toronto FC Signs Honduran Midfielder Deybi Flores

Toronto FC has made a significant addition to its roster with the signing of Honduran international midfielder Deybi Flores from Fehérvár Football Club of the OTP Bank Liga (First Division, Hungary). The club announced today that Flores has inked a two-year contract with an option for 2026, pending his Canadian work permit, medicals, and receipt of the International Transfer Certificate (ITC).

Toronto FC General Manager Jason Hernandez expressed his excitement, stating, “We are happy to have Deybi join us for 2024 and beyond. He is a warrior in the middle of the field and will be an important piece in our evolution as a group. Deybi possesses both the skill set and mentality we require at the central midfield position. We look forward to his arrival and getting to work.”

Flores, 27, brings a wealth of experience, having spent the past two seasons with Fehérvár FC, where he made 32 appearances including 27 starts. Prior to his time at Fehérvár, he featured for Greek side Panetolikos Football Club, scoring four goals through 54 appearances in two seasons. His professional career began at CD Motagua in his home country, where he made his debut as an 18-year-old and claimed the Honduran Liga Nacional championship during the 2014-2015 Apertura season.

Toronto FC Head Coach John Herdman expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We are excited to welcome Deybi to Toronto and Toronto FC. Deybi’s fighting spirit and competitiveness have always stood out for me, and we are eager to integrate him into the team, forging connections that will fortify our midfield.”

Flores also shared his excitement about the new opportunity, saying, “I feel excited and blessed with this new opportunity in my personal life and professional career. I am thankful to the organization and the Head Coach for the chance to be part of a fantastic club like Toronto FC. I am fully committed, and with God’s help, we will achieve all the objectives and dreams we have as a team. I can’t wait to arrive in Toronto to meet my teammates and all the staff, and I am ready to work hard and pour my heart into every moment I wear this jersey.”

With this signing, Toronto FC has added a dynamic and determined midfielder to its ranks, signaling a strong push for success in the upcoming seasons.
