Tidal to Remove App from Samsung Smart TVs in July 2024

Tidal, the popular music streaming service, has announced its decision to withdraw its app from Samsung Smart TVs starting July 8, 2024. This move follows similar actions taken with Roku and Amazon Fire TV products in recent weeks.

In a statement, Tidal informed its users, ‘After July 8, 2024, Tidal will no longer be available on Samsung Smart TVs. To continue enjoying your favorite music, you can log in to Tidal from your computer, download the mobile app, or explore other streaming options.’

The change will specifically impact TVs running Tizen OS from the following month. However, Tidal will still be accessible through various other TV brands and streaming devices such as Android, Google, Apple, and Sonos.

Moreover, Tidal has revealed plans to replace MQA tracks with FLAC formatted files starting from July 24. Additionally, the service has reduced its subscription costs from £20 per month to £11, offering users a more affordable option for premium music streaming.
