Thousands of Residences in San Diego County Without Power Due to Storm

Thousands of residences in San Diego County were without power Monday afternoon amid a powerful storm system that is moving through the county.

By 5 a.m. Tuesday, 4,718 San Diego Gas & Electric customers were still without power.

At least more than 5,000 homes were impacted by the outages in various areas at one point on Monday including Ocean Beach, Lindbergh Field, Paradise Hills, Skyline, Bay Terraces, El Cajon, Encanto, Emerald Hills, Valencia Park, Mission Valley, Kearny Mesa, Logan Heights, Clairemont, Bay Park, Balboa Park, National City, Coronado, and Torrey Pines.

SDG&E is investigating the cause of the outages, according to its outage map website. The outages impacting Logan Heights, University Heights, North Park, Normal Heights, La Jolla, Paradise Hills, Skyline, and Bay Terraces have been confirmed to have been caused by the weather.

These outages come after heavy downpours due to a storm that has come through our county prompting flood and thunderstorm warnings.
