The Texas A&M baseball team is making waves as five of its players have been honored with ABCA All-Region Honors, with four players making it to the first team. The accolades come just in time as the team gears up for the College World Series in Omaha.
The American Baseball Coaches Association recently announced the ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division I Central All-Region Teams, with five Texas A&M players making the cut. Senior left-handed pitcher Evan Aschenbeck, outfielders Braden Montgomery and Jace LaViolette, along with freshman third baseman Gavin Grahovac, secured spots on the first team. Additionally, starting sophomore LHP Ryan Prager received a second team nod.
This recognition marks a significant achievement for the Aggies, with five players from the Central Region being honored, tying a program record set back in 2015. Despite Montgomery’s season-ending injury during the Super Regionals against Oregon, he is expected to be a top pick in the upcoming 2024 MLB Draft. Aschenbeck also received the prestigious “Stopper of the Year” award from the National College Baseball Writers Association.
The No. 3 ranked Texas A&M team, boasting a record of 49-13, is set to face off against SEC rival Florida (34-28) in the College World Series opener on Saturday at 6 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN, offering fans a chance to witness the Aggies in action as they aim for further success in the tournament.
