TCL Revolutionizes TV Market with Largest MiniLED LCD TV

China’s TCL has been making waves in the TV market with its introduction of the largest miniLED LCD TV available today, a massive 115-inch model. However, the company’s display manufacturing arm has the capacity to produce even larger LCD panels, setting the stage for potentially groundbreaking developments in the industry.

A few years back, TCL revolutionized the market for large-sized TVs by releasing affordable 98-inch models. Since then, the company has significantly expanded its product range to encompass various models, including a budget-friendly 98-inch LCD TV without zone dimming and fully equipped 98-inch miniLED LCD TVs with thousands of zones.

Notably, TCL CSOT, the company’s display manufacturing division, has also begun supplying 98-inch LCD panels to other TV brands, such as LG, Sony, and Samsung. This means that many of the 98-inch TVs in the market today feature TCL panels at their core.

The 98-inch panels are manufactured in generation 8.5, or 8.5G, display factories, with a mother glass size of 2.2 meters by 2.5 meters. This mother glass can be cut into smaller LCD panels, enabling TCL CSOT to potentially produce hundreds of thousands of 98-inch panels monthly, albeit at the expense of smaller screen production.

Now, TCL has introduced an even larger 115-inch LCD panel, which is already making its way to Europe as the 115X955 Max and will soon be available in North America as the 115QM891G. This new panel is produced in TCL CSOT’s latest Generation 11, or 11G, factory, utilizing larger 2.94 by 3.37 meter mother glasses for production.

Looking ahead, TCL is pushing the boundaries further with plans for even larger TVs. At an event in Warsaw, Poland, TCL’s Marek Maciejewski, Product Development Director Europe, shared insights into the future capabilities of the Gen 11 plant. TCL is currently exploring the production of a 130-inch panel, with the potential to cut two 130-inch panels from a single 11G mother glass. Additionally, TCL is experimenting with the concept of a massive 148-inch panel, which could potentially become the largest in the market.

With TCL’s relentless pursuit of innovation and the ability to manufacture increasingly larger panels, the future of TV displays seems poised for remarkable advancements, offering consumers an array of exciting possibilities in the realm of home entertainment.
