New York Times Games Team Releases Beta Version of Strands Game
Strands is a new word search game by the New York Times Games team, featuring a unique twist and free to play on the web starting March 4. Tracy Bennett, the Wordle editor, describes it as appealing to fans of anagrams, Boggle, and Scrabble, and a steppingstone for Crossword players. The game requires players to find theme words with a commonality and a spangram, and today’s theme provides a clue. Executive producer Zoe Bell notes the long history of word searches in newspapers, with Strands originating from the original pitch by Juliette Seive.
