Video Games and Permanent Hearing Loss

Are video games putting millions at risk of permanent hearing loss? A systematic review of 14 papers involving over 50,000 people from nine countries explores the relationship between gaming and hearing damage. With sound intensity and exposure time both playing a role, the average headphone volume in shooting games was found to be as high as 91.2dB, well above safe levels according to the World Health Organization.
