World Party frontman Karl Wallinger, founding member of the Waterboys, has passed away at the age of 66. Wallinger’s musical legacy includes hits like ‘Ship of Fools’ and ‘Put The Message In the Box.’ Despite a health setback, he resumed activities with World Party in 2006 and had plans for the group’s reformation and upcoming tours. Wallinger’s extensive contributions to the music industry were acknowledged by Waterboys leader Mike Scott, who paid tribute to him as ‘one of the finest musicians I’ve ever known.’
