Sea of Thieves Set to Launch on PS5 After Six Years

Sea of Thieves, the popular cooperative pirate adventure game by Rare, is set to launch on the PS5 after six years as an Xbox exclusive. The game’s creative director and producer recently played with a crew from Sony Interactive Entertainment, highlighting the excitement of collaborating with players from a different platform. With the PS5 launch scheduled for 30 April, pre-orders are now open, marking the latest stage in the game’s evolution since its 2018 debut. Sea of Thieves offers players a vast multiplayer world of oceanic exploration, buried treasure, and ship-to-ship battles, with a design philosophy centered on ‘tools not rules.’ The game has overcome technical issues and flourished with approximately 100 updates and expansions, including adventures inspired by popular franchises such as Pirates of the Caribbean and Monkey Island.
