Global Pledge to Immunize Half a Billion Children and Strengthen Global Health Security
The United States government has pledged over $1.5 billion to Gavi over the next five years, aiming to save more than eight million lives by expanding vaccination efforts. This commitment focuses on reaching unvaccinated children, scaling up vaccinations for diseases like malaria and cervical cancer, and preparing countries for health emergencies. The launch of the African Vaccine Manufacturing Accelerator (AVMA) will assist African nations in producing vaccines locally, promoting vaccine equity and improving responses to future health crises. This initiative underscores the importance of international cooperation in saving lives through immunization.
