Woman with Irregular Heart Rhythm Concerned About Prolonged Waiting Times for Treatment in Scotland

A woman with atrial fibrillation in Scotland is concerned about the prolonged waiting times for cardiology treatment, fearing cardiac failure. The British Heart Foundation reports record waiting times, with only 3 in 10 people receiving an echocardiogram within six weeks. Chronic underinvestment in cardiology services has led to the highest number of heart-related deaths since 2008, despite government investment of £3m in 2014 and 2021.
