SZA Reveals Decision to Remove Breast Implants in Candid Interview

SZA, the Grammy-winning singer, recently revealed her decision to have her breast implants removed in a candid interview with the ‘SHE MD’ podcast. The 34-year-old artist, whose full name is Solána Imani Rowe, shared her reasons for the procedure, citing concerns about her health and past experiences with breast-related issues.

In the podcast, hosted by former fashion designer Mary Alice Haney and OB-GYN Dr. Thaïs Aliabadi, SZA disclosed that her mother had battled breast cancer, and she herself had dealt with noncancerous lumps in her breast. She expressed her regret for not consulting Dr. Aliabadi before undergoing the breast implant surgery, acknowledging that she had experienced complications and discomfort following the procedure.

While the decision to remove breast implants is not necessarily linked to breast cancer, medical experts have highlighted potential risks associated with such implants. ABC News medical correspondent Dr. Darien Sutton outlined various risks, including persistent pain, scarring, muscle contracture, implant rupture, and the rare possibility of developing certain types of cancers. Despite these risks, Dr. Sutton emphasized that scientific research has shown no significant difference in safety factors between saline and silicone implants.

SZA’s openness about her personal experience with breast implants sheds light on the complexities and considerations involved in such procedures. Her decision to prioritize her health and well-being serves as a reminder of the importance of informed decision-making and thorough consultations with medical professionals.
