Susan Lucci Makes Stunning Appearance at American Heart Association Event

Susan Lucci, the 77-year-old former All My Children star, made a stunning appearance at the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women Red Dress Collection event in New York City. The actress, who serves as an ambassador for the American Heart Association, donned a striking strapless all-red dress, reflecting the event’s theme. Her outfit, featuring a mermaid-style design with feathers at the bottom, was elegantly accessorized with silver jewelry.

Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE, Lucci emphasized the personal significance of the event, referring to it as her ‘passion project’ following her own cardiac event. She expressed her determination to raise awareness about heart health, stating, ‘I came out of it knowing that I just had to pass my good luck on.’

Despite her cardiologist’s assurance that she need not continue her advocacy work, Lucci remains committed to the cause, explaining, ‘I couldn’t keep that good luck for myself. I couldn’t.’

Lucci’s dedication to the American Heart Association has been unwavering, especially after her own cardiac trauma in 2018. Recounting her experience, she disclosed intense chest pains that were initially dismissed until a scan revealed a 90% blockage in the main artery to her heart. This revelation underscored the importance of understanding one’s family history, as Lucci noted, ‘It’s important for everyone to know their family history.’

Her commitment to raising awareness about heart health is deeply rooted in her personal journey, and her presence at the annual event serves as a powerful reminder of the significance of cardiovascular health.
