Stevie Wonder Becomes Ghanaian Citizen on 74th Birthday

Stevie Wonder, the iconic American singer-songwriter, has made headlines by taking the Oath of Allegiance and receiving his Certificate of Citizenship to officially become a Ghanaian citizen. The ceremony, which occurred at the Jubilee House in Ghana’s capital, marked Stevie Wonder’s formal integration into Ghanaian society.

The legal counsel to President Akufo-Addo, Kow Essuman, shared the exciting news on social media, extending congratulations to the music legend for embracing Ghanaian citizenship. In his post, he announced, ‘Stevie Wonder is officially Ghanaian. He has just taken the Oath of Allegiance and received the Certificate of Citizenship by Registration at Jubilee House. Congratulations, Sir and welcome to Ghana.’

Interestingly, the citizenship ceremony coincided with Stevie Wonder’s 74th birthday, as he was born on May 13, 1950. Known originally as Stevland Hardaway Morris, Stevie Wonder has gained worldwide acclaim for his talents as a singer-songwriter, musician, and record producer. His musical prowess transcends various genres such as R&B, pop, soul, gospel, funk, and jazz, solidifying his status as a trailblazer in the music industry.
