Steelers fans vote for Ultimate All-Time Roster

Behind The Steel Curtain is calling all Steelers fans to participate in the creation of the ultimate ‘All-Time Steelers roster’ by casting their votes for the best players at each position. As the countdown to the 2024 training camp continues, daily polls are being posted for fans to have their say in shaping the roster.

The final lineup of the ‘All-Time Steelers’ roster will be revealed on July 24, just before the start of the Steelers’ training camp for the year.

Today’s focus is on the fullback position, a role that has evolved over the years in the NFL. While fullbacks are now primarily valued for their blocking abilities, some of the older players in the Steelers’ history had more involvement in the offense.

One of the nominees, Merril Hoge, may not have won a championship with Pittsburgh, but his impressive stats of 5,272 scrimmage yards and 34 touchdowns make him a strong contender. Hoge’s post-playing career as an ESPN analyst also adds to his national recognition, potentially influencing the poll results.

Another nominee, Dan Kreider, stands out as the only one with a Super Bowl ring. Although he had limited touches during his time with the Steelers, Kreider played a crucial role in creating opportunities for star running backs like Jerome Bettis and Willie Parker.

As fans cast their votes for the best Steelers fullback of all time, the competition is heating up. Will Hoge’s all-around contributions or Kreider’s championship ring sway the final decision? It’s up to the fans to decide who deserves a spot on the Ultimate All-Time Steelers roster.
