STAIND Drummer Jon Wysocki Passes Away at 53

Founding STAIND drummer Jon Wysocki passed away at the age of 53 on Saturday, May 18. Before his death, he had been dealing with liver issues that required medical attention.

His bandmates in LYDIA’S CASTLE confirmed his passing in a social media post, stating, “On 5/18/2024 at 8:02pm, Jon Wysocki passed away surrounded by family and friends that loved him dearly. An official statement will be developed shortly.”

Members of his former band, SOIL, also expressed their condolences. They described Wysocki as not only a talented drummer but also a great friend and human being.

Wysocki, along with Aaron Lewis, Mike Mushok, and Johnny April, founded STAIND in 1995. He remained with the group until 2011 when he was let go during the production of their self-titled seventh album.

During his tenure with STAIND, the band achieved significant success, including three consecutive No. 1 albums and topping the U.S. Rock singles chart with hits like “It’s Been Awhile”, “So Far Away”, and “Right Here”.

In a 2007 interview, Wysocki shared his love for performing but also expressed discomfort with certain aspects of fame, particularly interactions with fans. He acknowledged the influence of his family, especially his mother’s side, in his musical journey.
