Spotify, the world’s largest music streaming service, has introduced a new feature called the miniplayer for desktop users. This feature allows Premium users to listen to music and podcasts while using other applications, providing a seamless and convenient listening experience.
The miniplayer, set to ‘always on top,’ offers various functionalities such as changing tracks, selecting playlists, controlling volume, and watching videos and podcasts. According to Spotify, this feature has been highly requested by users and is being touted as a ‘perfect productivity companion.’
To access the miniplayer, users can simply click on the window icon located to the right of the volume slider. Hovering over the miniplayer brings up controls for play, skip, and adding to the library. Users can continue using the main app to explore new songs, podcasts, and playlists.
Although the miniplayer has been made available for some users, others may have to wait a little longer for it to appear. This release follows the recent introduction of music videos in eight different countries, with plans for further expansion in the future.
Spotify, known for its extensive library and user-friendly interface, boasts over 236 million subscribers worldwide. In addition to music, the service also offers up to 15 hours of audiobooks per month as part of its subscription package.
