Sony Unveils Flagship Dolby Atmos Soundbar Bravia Theatre Bar 9

Sony has unveiled its new flagship Dolby Atmos soundbar, the Sony Bravia Theatre Bar 9, priced at £1399 / $1400 / AU$1799. This new soundbar is part of Sony’s efforts to upgrade its soundbar range under the ‘Bravia’ name, aligning with the brand’s focus on Mini LED technology for its flagship TV lineup.

At a recent launch event, attendees had the opportunity to experience the Bravia Theatre Bar 9 in action. Initial impressions highlighted the soundbar’s enveloping three-dimensional delivery and HDMI passthrough with 4K/120Hz support. However, some concerns were raised about the sound lacking punch during the demo and the limited HDMI inputs.

Comparisons were drawn to Sony’s previous model, the HT-A7000, known for its performance-per-pound value. Despite the price increase from the HT-A7000, the Bravia Bar 9 aims to deliver an enhanced audio experience for consumers.

While the hands-on session provided valuable insights, it’s important to note that final assessments will be reserved for a comprehensive review. The Bravia Theatre Bar 9 is set to compete with other high-end soundbars in the market, such as the Sennheiser Ambeo Soundbar Plus and Samsung’s Q990C.
