Sony has launched a new high-end 4K 60p pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) camera model with an integrated lens, the BRC-AM7. This new camera is designed to cater to the needs of broadcast, live event, and sports productions, boasting PTZ Auto Framing technology that uses AI for advanced recognition to facilitate accurate and natural automatic tracking of moving subjects.
The BRC-AM7 is being touted as the world’s smallest and lightest integrated lens PTZ camera, measuring 168.7mm in width, 225.2mm in height, and 192.3mm in depth, with a weight of only 3.7kg. These compact dimensions promote increased installation flexibility and accessibility in challenging locations, providing more vantage points for capturing high-quality video content.
Sony plans to make the BRC-AM7 available in early 2025, offering professionals in the industry access to its innovative features. Furthermore, Sony’s PTZ Auto Framing technology, currently featured in the SRG-A series of PTZ cameras, will be expanded to additional models, with a Ver. 3.00 firmware update scheduled for spring 2025 or later to add the technology to the FR7 full-frame, interchangeable lens PTZ camera.
The BRC-AM7 utilizes a 1.0-type 4K compatible stacked Exmor RS CMOS image sensor and the latest image processing engine BIONZ XR to achieve 4K 60p high-resolution imagery with minimal noise. Additionally, it supports 4K HDR imagery, providing clear depiction of both bright and dark scenes. The all-in-one lens offers a 20x optical zoom and Clear Image Zoom, enabling high magnification zooming while maintaining resolution, and a built-in electronic variable ND filter that allows seamless adjustment of filter transmittance from 1/4 to 1/128 without changing the depth of field.
