Skims Brand Makes TV Advertisement Debut with Futuristic Film Starring Kim Kardashian

Skims, the apparel brand co-founded by Kim Kardashian, has made its television advertisement debut with a futuristic film featuring Kardashian in every role. The brand’s first national TV commercial, created by Wieden+Kennedy Portland, aired multiple times during the 96th Academy Awards and has garnered significant media attention.

The ad, set in a secret lab in outer space, portrays Kardashian in various guises, humorously addressing the speculation surrounding her multifaceted career. Titled ‘Klones,’ the ad showcases Kardashian as the chief engineer, scientist, test subject, and more, highlighting the rigorous testing of Skims’ shapewear products. Accompanied by Gary Wright’s 1975 song ‘Dream Weaver,’ the ad adds a fantastical element to the narrative, symbolizing Kardashian’s journey in turning her dreams into reality.

Directed by Frank LeBon, the ad was approached as a feature film, featuring elaborate set design, practical effects, and shooting on film. Kardashian dedicated three days to acting out every scene, while renowned costume designer Heidi Bivens contributed to the production. Skims, established in 2018, has rapidly grown in value, recently reaching $4 billion. Initially focused on shapewear, the brand has expanded into loungewear, swimwear, and men’s clothing, with plans to venture into physical retail later this year.

The ad campaign, set to run on broadcast channels and online throughout April, will also encompass social media content and prominent out-of-home placements in Los Angeles and New York, marking a significant milestone for the brand’s marketing efforts.
