Six Injured in Hard Landing of American Airlines Flight in Hawaii

Six people were injured during a hard landing of an American Airlines flight at Kahului Airport in Hawaii on Saturday. The incident involved one passenger and five flight attendants, who were later transported to a hospital and released.

The flight, numbered 271, was traveling from Los Angeles (LAX) to Maui (OGG) when it experienced an issue upon landing at OGG, according to a statement from American Airlines. The aircraft was able to taxi to the gate under its own power, and passengers deplaned normally. There were a total of 167 customers and seven crew members on board the Airbus A320.

American Airlines confirmed that the plane was taken out of service for inspection by their maintenance team, emphasizing that the safety of their customers and team members is their top priority.

The hard landing was also confirmed by Hawaii’s transportation department, and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced that they will investigate the incident. The FAA’s statement mentioned that the hard landing occurred on Runway 20 at approximately 2 p.m. local time and urged individuals to contact the airline for passenger information.

This incident comes in the wake of another American Airlines news, where a plane was diverted after a passenger punched a flight attendant, as revealed in court documents.
