Silversea’s Silver Ray Sets Sail on Inaugural Voyage

Silversea’s latest addition to its fleet, the Silver Ray, was recently christened in Lisbon, Portugal, marking the beginning of its inaugural voyage from Lisbon to Civitavecchia, Italy. This new 728-passenger ultra-luxury ship is the second in Silversea’s Nova-class lineup, promising a unique and luxurious cruising experience.

Three prominent figures in the travel industry had the opportunity to explore the Silver Ray before its official launch and shared their insights with Luxury Travel Advisor. Scott Koepf, Chief Strategy Officer at Cruise Planners, highlighted the ship’s stunning asymmetrical design, particularly praising Deck 10 with its outdoor pool and innovative indoor/outdoor dining venue. The extensive use of glass throughout the ship, totaling 44,000 square feet, allows for breathtaking views from various public spaces, creating an intimate and unique atmosphere.

Jeff Tolkin, Co-CEO of World Travel Holdings, emphasized the yacht-like ambiance of the main public decks on the Silver Ray, noting their cozy and comfortable feel. The ship’s design sets it apart from traditional vessels, offering guests a truly exceptional cruising experience.

Ken Heit, President of Luxury Cruise and Tour, Inc., who had previously sailed on the sister ship Silver Nova, praised the Silver Ray’s enhancements, taking the exceptional features of the Nova-class to new heights. He particularly appreciated the spacious gym, sauna, and steam room areas, highlighting their generous size and quality.

With its current Mediterranean itinerary including stops in Valencia and Palma de Mallorca, the Silver Ray will soon make its way to the Americas in December 2024, promising guests an unforgettable journey across the Atlantic. As travelers embark on this new luxury cruise experience, they can expect superb spaces, top-notch service, and luxurious suites that define the Silversea standard of excellence.
