Shake Shack Throws Shade at Chick-fil-A with Free Chicken Sandwich Promotion

Shake Shack, the American fast-casual restaurant chain, has thrown some shade at Chick-fil-A by announcing a promotion offering a free chicken sandwich only on Sundays during the month of April. The move seems to be a direct jab at Chick-fil-A’s closed-on-Sunday policy.

In a press release, Shake Shack emphasized its antibiotic-free chicken sandwich, seemingly highlighting Chick-fil-A’s recent decision to shift away from antibiotic-free chicken starting this spring. The New York-based chain touted its antibiotic-free chicken in a poster, urging people to ‘Eat More Antibiotic-Free Chicken’.

Chick-fil-A explained that their switch from antibiotic-free chicken was due to supply reasons, stating, ‘As we look to the future, the availability of high-quality chicken that meets our rigid standards has become a concern. This change enables us to not only ensure we can continue to serve high-quality chicken, but also chicken that still meets the expectations our customers count on us to deliver.’

Shake Shack’s free chicken sandwich promotion is available on April 7, 14, 21, and 28 at participating locations. To redeem the offer, customers must place a $10 minimum order on an in-store kiosk, the Shake Shack app, or the restaurant’s website.
