Severe Weather Causes Power Outages in Mid-South

Residents in the Mid-South are facing power outages as severe weather hits the region. Within a short span of 10 minutes, the number of power outages surged from 600 to 4,000 at 7:34 a.m. The affected areas include Austin Peay and Covington Pike, with approximately 3,000 people waking up without power around 4 a.m.

Memphis Light, Gas and Water (MLGW) has been actively working to address the outages. A video captured by a viewer depicted power lines sparking in the Cooper-Young area at 2:15 a.m., highlighting the severity of the situation.

As the region grapples with the impact of the storm, residents are urged to stay updated on the latest developments and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
