Samsung Unveils ‘Flex in & Out Flip’ Concept Phone at CES

Samsung has unveiled an exciting new concept phone at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) called the ‘Flex in & Out Flip’ concept device. This innovative phone features a 6.7-inch display that can be folded open and closed, and even bent backward to allow for screen usage even when closed. The design ensures that one side of the display remains larger than the other to prevent obstruction of the cameras.

According to CNET, the larger side of the display can accommodate various elements such as icons in the quick settings menu, time and battery life percentage, and media playback controls. While this concept could potentially serve as an upgrade to the Galaxy Z Flip series, Samsung seems to be in no rush to make changes to its popular foldable clamshell phone, given the continued success of the Galaxy Z Flip 5.

However, Samsung appears to be prioritizing the development of the ‘Flex in & Out’ concept for its book-style foldable. Last summer, Samsung Display released a video showcasing a similar concept for its book-style foldable phone, hinting at a device that can close like a book or bend the screen backward to transform the once internal display into an external screen.

With consumer feedback indicating a desire for design changes, particularly in the Galaxy Z Fold series, it is anticipated that Samsung will accelerate work on this concept. Notably, the company addressed customer concerns by significantly enhancing the size and capabilities of the external display in the Galaxy Z Flip 5.

While it may take a few years before the ‘Flex in & Out Flip’ concept materializes into a consumer-ready phone, Samsung is expected to introduce compelling features that leverage the phone’s folding capabilities. As development progresses, Samsung is likely to innovate and deliver an exceptional product that meets consumer expectations.
