Robert Plant and Alison Krauss to Headline Edmonton Folk Festival

Edmonton’s folk festival is set to make waves this summer with the announcement of a highly anticipated performance by none other than rock icon Robert Plant and country-bluegrass singer Alison Krauss. The festival, scheduled to take place from August 8 to August 11, will see the duo headlining on August 11, leaving festival-goers thrilled at the prospect.

The announcement was made in a news release by festival producer Terry Wickham, who expressed his excitement, calling it ‘one of the most exciting bookings in the history of our festival.’ He added that it would be ‘a brilliant way to close on Sunday night.’

While Krauss has previously graced the festival stage with Union Station in 2005, this will mark Plant’s debut at the event. The duo’s collaboration dates back to 2007 when they released the critically acclaimed album ‘Raising Sand,’ described by the festival’s organizers as ‘an unlikely, mesmerizing pairing of one of rock’s greatest frontmen with one of country music’s finest and most honored artists, produced by the legendary T Bone Burnett.’

Their musical journey continued with the release of ‘Raise the Roof’ in 2021, which received multiple Grammy nominations, further solidifying their status as a powerhouse duo.

Festival organizers have promised that the full lineup for the 2024 edition of the Edmonton Folk Music Festival will be announced on May 28, with tickets set to go on sale on June 1, ensuring that fans have ample time to secure their spots for what is expected to be an unforgettable musical experience.
