Rise of Powerful Women in Middle East Business

The Middle East is witnessing a surge of powerful and influential women in the business world. From pioneering entrepreneurs to visionary corporate leaders, women in the MENA region are making significant strides across various sectors and industries. One such remarkable figure is Hana Al Rostamani, the Group CEO of the First Abu Dhabi Bank, who has secured the top position on the list of the Middle East’s 100 Most Powerful Businesswomen for the second consecutive year. Her notable achievements have also earned her a spot on Forbes’ list of the World’s Most Powerful Women in 2023, where she ranked 63rd overall and 14th in the global finance category.

Another notable figure is Shaista Asif, the Cofounder and Group CEO of PureHealth Holding, who successfully led one of the region’s largest IPOs, raising a total of $986 million through the offering of 10% of its issued share capital on the first market of the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange.

The latest edition of the list for the Middle East’s 100 Most Powerful Businesswomen in 2024 comprises 100 entries, representing 104 women from 27 different sectors and 28 nationalities. The banking and financial services sector dominates the list with 26 entries, followed by healthcare with 13, and investments and technology with six entries each. Notably, there are 35 newcomers to the list, representing 15 different sectors.
