Riot Games Introduces New Champion Aurora to League of Legends Roster

Riot Games has introduced a new champion to the League of Legends roster, named Aurora. This unique champion has the ability to see the spirit world and utilize its power through her skills.

Aurora, a vastaya residing in the Freljord, possesses distinct rabbit-like features. Despite being autistic, she is viewed as exceptional in the world of Runeterra due to the absence of a specific term for her condition. Since birth, Aurora has had the ability to perceive the spirit realm and has honed the skill to transition in and out of it when feeling uneasy. As she steps into the Rift, she can incorporate the spirit realm into her arsenal of abilities.

Interestingly, the development of Aurora has spanned approximately six years, during which her appearance and abilities underwent significant alterations. Some concepts from her design were even integrated into other League of Legends champions released during this period. Now, as she makes her debut, Aurora promises to be an engaging and enjoyable addition to the game.

Aurora is set to be released alongside patch 14.14, scheduled for July 17, 2024. Her skill set includes a balance of offensive capabilities, mobility, and escape mechanisms, positioning her as a strong choice for solo-lane gameplay.

Aurora’s Abilities

  • Passive – Spirit Abjuration: After damaging an enemy thrice with spells and attacks, Aurora performs an exorcism that deals a percentage of the enemy’s maximum health as magic damage. This process releases a spirit that enhances her healing and grants additional movement speed for a brief period. The bonus movement speed increases with each subsequent spirit released.
  • Q – Twofold Hex: Aurora unleashes cursed energy in a target direction, inflicting magic damage and imbuing enemies with spirit energy. Upon recasting, she draws back the spirit energy, dealing additional magic damage based on the enemies’ missing health.
  • W – Across the Veil: Aurora leaps in a chosen direction, entering the spirit realm upon landing. In this state, she becomes invisible and gains Spirit Mode temporarily. Achieving takedowns on enemy champions within 3 seconds of damaging them resets the cooldown of Across the Veil.
  • E – The Weirding: By opening a portal to the spirit realm, Aurora releases a burst of spirit magic that damages enemies within an area, inflicting a decaying slow effect. The impact of the blast pushes Aurora back slightly.
  • R – Between Worlds: Aurora unveils a rift to the spirit realm, emitting a pulse of spirit energy that damages and slows enemies in its path.
