The recall affects approximately 919,400 units in the United States and an additional 44,352 units in Canada. The model number of the recalled power adapters is CYAP05 050100U, and they feature a white rectangular plastic housing with specific markings near the prongs.
Consumers who have purchased the affected power adapters are advised to stop using them immediately and contact Hatch Baby for a free replacement. To facilitate the replacement process, consumers are instructed to cut the cord of the recalled adapter, take a photo showing the model number and the cut cord, upload the photo, and provide their name and mailing address on the official recall website.
There have been 19 reports of the plastic housing coming off the AC power adapter, leading to two instances of consumers experiencing a minor electrical shock. The recalled power adapters were sold online at Hatch.co and Amazon.com, as well as at various retail stores nationwide between January 2019 and September 2022.
