However, the upcoming eclipse in 2024 promises to be even more enthralling, with notable differences in its path, timing, and potential for scientific research, as highlighted by NASA.
One striking difference lies in the path of totality, where observers can witness the Moon entirely obscuring the Sun, unveiling the star’s outer atmosphere known as the corona. The upcoming total solar eclipse is expected to feature a much wider path of totality compared to its 2017 predecessor, spanning between 108 and 122 miles across North America, a significant expansion from the 62 to 71-mile range witnessed in 2017.
Moreover, the 2024 eclipse path is anticipated to traverse a greater number of cities and densely populated areas, making the awe-inspiring spectacle more accessible to a larger audience.
