Jeezy, the rapper, is seeking primary custody of his 2-year-old daughter Monaco amid a contentious divorce with Jeannie Mai, according to court documents obtained by Page Six.
Jeezy, whose real name is Jay Jenkins, filed in a Fulton County court to vacate their current mediated agreement on temporary issues regarding their child custody and parenting time. He claims that he and Mai had previously agreed on a custody arrangement for Monaco back in February, but he now wants his daughter to live with him full-time due to her mom’s hectic schedule.
In the court documents, the ‘Soul Survivor’ emcee alleges that he agreed to move into the basement of their shared home, but Mai has since moved out of the residence and taken Monaco with her. Jeezy further claims that Mai’s brother and mom are now primarily caring for Monaco, and he believes that Mai’s hectic schedule isn’t conducive to providing stability for the young child.
Additionally, Jeezy asserts that Mai has allegedly refused to honor their custody agreement by not allowing him his parenting time for the last two months. He believes that Monaco, born in January 2022, would have more stability in her life under his primary care.
This latest filing comes after Jeezy accused Mai of ‘gatekeeping’ their daughter last November, citing the lack of consistency, continuity, and stability associated with the parenting time schedule as stressful for Monaco. Mai, however, denied the allegations and expressed her desire to foster an open, supportive, and safe environment for both parents.
